Set outside the town of Castellaneta all Mare, Puglia, Italy, and separated from the Ionian Sea by a protected forest, Nuova Concordia is a residential resort community including such amenities as a shopping complex, international hotel, conference center, sporting facilities, golf course and health spa. To preserve the primal beauty of this site, Ambasz situated the buildings and roadways within landscaped berms and flowering trellises so they appear as undulating hills in the landscape. The result is a medium density development turned into a park-by-the-sea. Set in an artificial lake, a landscaped island of shopping arcades is accessible by pedestrian bridges from the public entry plaza.
Surrounding the hotel is an assortment of housing types and private villas, each sitting lower and lower in the landscape as they approach the forest in order to maximize views and diminish their overall impact on this spectacular site.
