Bellaria Marina

  • In this project for a new marina on one of Italy's most frequented shores, Ambasz has further developed principles that have successfully guided his other designs aimed at improving the environmental quality of beach resorts. The design returns to the community a garden space equal in area to that covered by the building's footprint. It boasts a generous vegetation-covered "roof" under which are placed all the ancillary functions necessary for a marina, such as car parking, boat moorings, repair shops and restaurants. Like an embroidered undulating carpet, this "roof" extends from the edge of the residential area towards the port; its skyline resembling the wavy surface of the sea and towards which it offers a belvedere.
  • Placed on the axis of a remarkable maritime colony for children built in the 1930's, this variegated garden supports the panoramic vision of a marina while simultaneously offering its users a verdant terrace.
